Position Description:

Under the general direction of the Chief, South Surveillance & Facility Performance Branch, the incumbent serves as the Southern California-based specialist whose duties include inspections, management, monitoring, and coordination of dam safety and other civil engineering projects as directed, and support of Field Divisions in the implementation of Dam Safety Surveillance and Monitoring Plans and emergency preparedness activities for assigned dams and related facilities. Incumbent conducts and coordinates special engineering studies such as hydrology, hydraulics, and stability of dams and their appurtenant structures; geotechnical evaluation; and other dam safety engineering issues. This position requires travel, sometimes on short notice, to facilities via air travel or other means of transportation.

Requirements for Admittance to Senior Engineer, Water Resources Exam:

All applicants must meet the education and/or experience requirements as stated on this exam bulletin to be accepted into the examination. Part-time or full-time jobs, regardless of whether paid or volunteer positions, and inside or outside California state service will count toward experience

 

Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. and Two years of experience performing the duties of a Engineer, Water Resources, Range D, or in comparable work.
