The ideal candidate will have knowledge and abilities in the following subject areas:

 

Knowledge of: Delta regulations, environmental programs and policies of participating government entities; current science and policy issues, and related planning efforts; scientific principles of fisheries and aquatic biology, water quality; Geographic Information Systems and physical environmental measurements; State Water Project operations in the Delta; California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation requirements; State and federal permitting processes; biological principles; endangered species issues; and State, federal and local legislative/governmental processes and noticing requirements.

 

Ability to: review and evaluate program performance and achievements, and prepare administrative reports; coordinate program activities with technical and administrative support sections and their activities; assist with the formulation and administration of policies; maintain liaison with other governmental agencies and the private sector; independently represent DWR in compliance negotiations, policy implementation, performance evaluation, program budgeting, and strategic planning.
