JOB TITLE:                        CIVIL ENGINEER II (Stormwater)

 

DEPARTMENT:                 PUBLIC WORKS / ENGINEERING DIVISION

 

LOCATION:                        3505 DRIES LANE, PEORIA, ILLINOIS

 

HOURS:                              7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.  – Monday through Friday

 

SALARY:                            2019 AFSCME Salary Grade 224 - $34.60 per hour

 

SUMMARY:         Performs technical, professional engineering work in the management, design or construction supervision of public works projects including planning, scheduling, managing and coordinating detailed phases of engineering work on major projects; hydrologic or watershed modeling, stormwater/drainage and other engineering design, serving as a lead worker; coordinating and leading public meetings; public education presentations, ensuring permit compliance, and managing, developing, and approving project budgets and disbursements. Other duties include working with customers to review and make recommendations for stormwater utility appeals, grants and help with other private drainage issues, entering data into the Tyler utility billing system, tracking project and dollars, creating reports, and making recommendations for operation and CIP budgets. An ideal candidate would have strong customer service skills, experience working with a diverse workforce, the ability to function in a fast-paced environment and represent the City of Peoria to the general public in a professional manner.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:    Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Civil Engineering, or a related field, Professional Engineer License (PE) in the State of Illinois, a valid State Driver’s License and a minimum of four years of progressively responsible related experience required.  Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job considered.
