Manages the Department of Stormwater Management as defined by City ordinance and directed by the Mayor by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers. Manages the Department of Stormwater Management, including but not limited to: capital improvement projects, surface water management, floodplain management, development review, and engineering plans and studies. Selects, develops, and supervises staff. Prepares budget and directs expenditure of department funds and keeping of department records. Works with other City departments to develop drainage capital improvement projects. Directs and manages City Stormwater management, floodplain management, and Stormwater maintenance projects. Directs the Stormwater management strategy of the City based on forecasting information from senior management. Coordinates with other City Departments, consultant firms and citizens on technical matters, costs, and project planning and implementation. Serves as a spokesperson for Stormwater management issues. Performs other duties as assigned. Requires: Master’s degree (MA/MS) or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field; plus ten years of experience in stormwater management, maintenance, repair and/or planning of which at least six must have been at a management level; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification required at time of application. Must obtain P.E. license in SC within 6 months of employment. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel and Word or similar software. Valid state issued driver's license.
