The Environmental and Neighborhood Services Department currently has an opening for a Stormwater Coordinator.  This position is responsible for providing development, coordination, implementation, and reporting related to the Stormwater Management Plan, including, but not limited to:  educational programs and events; training and presentations; site and facility inspections, water monitoring; tasking and project lead.

  • Develops and administers the Stormwater Management Plan (SWMP), under the supervision and guidance of the Environmental Manager.
  • Coordinates, administers, manages, and reports activities related to the SWMP.
  • Conducts inspections and enforcement for compliance with City codes regarding stormwater pollution.
  • Attends meetings and makes presentations as needed in the performance of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Maintains training and knowledge in stormwater pollution prevention measures, inspection and monitoring procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assists with review and approval of stormwater pollution prevention plans as needed.
  • Visits construction sites and industrial facilities to ensure on-site implementation of stormwater pollution prevention plans and compliance with TCEQ General Permits.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding stormwater pollution. Performs on-site field investigations accordingly. 
  • Researches, develops, and implements stormwater education programs, including social media campaigns, articles, and presentations.
  • Assists and coordinates volunteer efforts with Keep Sugar Land Beautiful.
  • Maintains stormwater inspection documentation and reporting according to MS4 Permit, SWMP, and departmental requirements.


Requirements

 Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
 Relatable Work Experience:
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in regulatory requirements with Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System.
  Training (License and/or Certification):
  • Valid Texas Driver License
  • Ability to obtain the Texas Code Enforcement Officer license within 12 months after hire date.
  • 40 Hour HAZWOPER or ability to obtain within three months after hire date.
  • National Incident Management System (NIMS) ICS-100.b, ICS-200, ICS-700.a within three months after hire date.
