Salary: $51,850.00 - $61,022.00 Annually

Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, biology or related field and three to five years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable experience in operations, maintenance, and inspections of stormwater facilities; knowledge of the Virginia Stormwater Management Program (VSMP) BMP specifications; VSMP basic and inspector training/certifications. Considerable knowledge and ability to interpret construction plans and VSMP design specifications. Planning and coordinating work crews to meet annual maintenance, customer complaints, structural failures, and facility long term Capital Improvement Plan requirements. Knowledge of safety rules and regulations that apply to field work. Knowledge of computers and related programs (Microsoft Office, database management, etc.). Must be able to work independently, analyze technical information, interpret field conditions and formulate corrective action plans. Good driving record required. Must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.


Assist the drainage superintendent by managing and supervising the operations/maintenance of county-owned and operated stormwater management facilities also knows as "Best Management Practices" (BMP's). This consists of supervising two BMP maintenance crews to complete the required annual stormwater facility maintenance and inspections, responding to resident and business concerns, long term capital maintenance and repairs, database management to comply with the VSMP and the county's municipal separate storm sewer system permit (MS4). Reports to the drainage superintendent any items that may require approval or involvement. Perform other work as required.


Monday - Friday; 7:30a.m. - 4:00p.m.
