Under supervision of the Street/Parks/Storm Water Superintendent; leads, plans, coordinates, directs, participates and over-sees employee engaged in the maintenance of storm-drains facilities, channels, culverts, retention basins, and pump systems. Performs other related duties as determined by the Street/Parks/Storm Water Superintendent.
High school diploma or equivalent; specialized college coursework and/or training in public works maintenance, construction, or storm water maintenance.
Five or more years of increasingly progressive responsible experience equivalent to a Public Works Maintenance Worker II position. Electrical experience is highly desired.
Employee must possess and maintain within 1 year from appointment a Class A or B Commercial California Driver License. Failure to obtain and maintain license within allotted time frame may result in disciplinary action that may include salary freeze, promotional freeze, demotion, suspension, or termination without administrative or judicial appeal. A herbicide QAC (qualified applicator certificate) is desired.
Be available for 24-hour emergency call-outs and required to wear a cell phone as directed.
Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, climb, push, pull, and lift up to 90 lbs., distinguish color, and wear protective apparel; exposure to heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, hazardous chemicals, flammable materials, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, and traffic hazards; ability to travel to different sites and locations. Occupational hazards and standard safety precautions necessary in public works maintenance and repair.
Willingness to obtain electrical, crane (NCCCO), and /or Storm Water related certifications.
