This position is responsible for the leadership, coordination and oversight of the Helena Public Works Department. It plans,directs, managesand oversee the programs, activities and operations of the department including Engineering, Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, Utility Maintenance (water, wastewater and storm water)and Solid Waste Collection, Recycling and Transfer Station. Department Management and Administration
This position will assume full management responsibility for all Public Works Department services, programs, operations and activities including Engineering, Water Treatment and Utility Maintenance, Wastewater Treatment and Utility Maintenance, Storm Water Utility Maintenance, Solid Waste Collection, Recycling and Transfer Station.The incumbent will manage the development and implementation of Public WorksDepartment goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for each assigned service area; establish, within City policy, appropriate service and staffing levels; and allocate resources accordingly.The Public Works Director will continuously monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures. Important duties include assessment ofwork load, evaluation of administrative and support systems, articulation of customer service goals, human resources management, budgeting and financial forecasting. Another crucial duty under this position is capital improvement programming.
