The City of Indian Wells, with just over 5,100 full-time residents, is a premier resort destination located in the heart of the Coachella Valley. The City organization operates under a contract model with 28 full-time employees who manage contracts for many of the high-quality services provided to residents. The City is a Council/Manager City with five Council Members elected at large. This model provides fiscal stability and enables the City to respond quickly to change. An operating budget of approximately $40 million annually is backed by $65 million in reserves, allowing Indian Wells to implement exciting projects and events.
The Senior Engineer supports the Public Works Department with a functional knowledge of civil engineering practices. Duties include technical assistance with the management of the City's Capital Improvement Program and processing development projects. The position should have a strong grasp of the development review and entitlement process, and working knowledge of GIS systems. The successful candidate will have flexibility to diversify their professional skills from supervising public counter operations including one (1) Permit Technician, and mentoring one (1) Public Works Inspector.
This position requires a minimum of five (5) years experience in Civil Engineering practices. Possession of a Civil Engineering degree from an accredited college, and a valid license as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California is preferred. A Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or related field is desired.
