Maryland Environmental Service has an opening based out of our BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport Field Office for a Lead Environmental Specialist within the Environmental Monitoring Division. Project management responsibilities include environmental planning, monitoring, compliance reporting, client interaction, and managing personnel in support of Airport operations and maintenance projects such as deicing, stormwater, sanitary sewer and fuel storage tanks. Responsibilities also include providing project management and technical support with respect to hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, industrial wastewater management, and contractor oversight, in support of the Maryland State Highway Administration. This is a designated emergency essential facility requiring the ability to assist in the planning, delegating and directing of work during nights, weekends or adverse weather conditions as emergencies may require. This position does require field work.
Minimum requirements include:
Bachelors Degree in environmental science, engineering, ecology or a related field from an accredited college or university plus five years of experience in environmental science, regulations, engineering or management, two years of which must have included responsibility managing environmental projects. Assignment to some locations may require two years of supervising environmental professional and technical staff. Applicants may substitute an applicable advanced education degree for up to two years of experience. Must be computer literate, specifically with respect to spreadsheets and word processing. Must have a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points. Position requires ability to obtain Security Clearance.

Salary range: $53,011.31 - $92,769.49
