The City of Northglenn is seeking an Environmental Manager for the overall management of the Water Resources, Stormwater, Water Quality and Industrial Pretreatment divisions within the Public Works Department.
This position supports the goals of the City Council and Public Works Department, which maintains and enhances the safety and well-being of the community by providing a safe and sustainable water supply, and protecting the environment and the city's water and wastewater treatment facilities. The department continuously strive to meet the needs of the community by constantly focusing on customer service, efficient and effective utilization of resources, safety, innovation and teamwork.
Duties and Responsibilities
This position is responsible for the management and supervision of the Environmental division.
This work includes, but is not limited to, administrative, supervisory and technical work planning, directing and evaluating water resources, water quality as it pertains to legal and permitting activities, implementation of the city's MS4 permit and the activities of the industrial pretreatment and backflow prevention programs.
Education and Experience
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or other related field is required. Seven to ten years in progressively responsible experience in the management of municipal environmental programs including but not limited to: industrial pretreatment, stormwater management, water quality management, and water resources management is also required.
Master's Degree in Water Resource Management, Environmental Management, or a related field plus three to five years supervision of technical and professional staff is preferred.
Must have a valid Colorado Drivers License with a good driving record at time of hire. Successful applicants will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug screen.
